2 hrs ago | Views
A 35-year-old man from Dinson Mine in Hwange, Matabeleland North Province, has been fined US$200 for assaulting his wife with a cooking stick during a domestic dispute.
The incident occurred on January 13, when the man struck his wife multiple times, injuring her left eye, head, and right hand.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) confirmed the sentencing in a statement on X (formerly Twitter), condemning the act as gender-based violence (GBV). The court ruled that failure to pay the fine would result in a four-month prison sentence.
Authorities have urged communities to report cases of domestic violence and emphasized the need for stronger measures to protect victims.
