Former Zimbabwe Saints chairman, Lazarus Magwaro, has taken his wife, Molly Magwaro, to court, accusing her of physically assaulting him during a counselling session. The 83-year-old Magwaro alleges that the incident occurred on January 29 at their Morningside home in Bulawayo.

Molly, 73, appeared before Bulawayo Magistrate Abednico Ndebele on Tuesday, facing charges of physical abuse. She was remanded out of custody and is due back in court on February 19.

According to the prosecution, represented by Ms Josephine Gurazhira, Lazarus had invited three officers from Mhlahlandlela Government Complex to their home for marital counselling. During the session, an argument reportedly escalated, prompting Molly to suddenly spring from her seat and slap Lazarus on the head, causing him to fall.

The assault led to a police report being filed, and Molly was subsequently arrested.

The case has garnered attention, highlighting the challenges of marital disputes and the steps some take to resolve such issues. The court proceedings are expected to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.
