Woman scalds hubby's face with boiling oil in infidelity row

A Norton man is fighting for his life in hospital after his wife allegedly scalded him with boiling cooking oil in a violent dispute over infidelity.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the shocking incident, revealing that the assailant, Melody Tambudzai, aged 40, has been arrested and is facing a charge of attempted murder.
"Police in Norton arrested Melody Tambudzai (40) for attempted murder which occurred at Makava village, Chivero, Mhondoro on January 27, 2025," said Nyathi.
According to police reports, the assault took place while the victim was asleep. Melody allegedly poured the hot oil directly onto her husband's face, resulting in severe facial burns. He was rushed to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Nyathi added that initial investigations had revealed the couple had been embroiled in a long-standing domestic dispute, primarily stemming from issues of infidelity. The ongoing tension between the two had reportedly escalated, culminating in the violent attack.
Tambudzai is currently in police custody while authorities continue their investigation into the incident.
