A logistics company in Witbank has announced a R100,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of two stolen side tipper trucks and the arrest of the suspects involved. South African police are on the hunt for two truck drivers, Tendai Luke Tarwirei Nemukuyu, aged 22, and Collen Mudhala, aged 41, who are accused of stealing the vehicles early on Saturday morning. Both suspects are Zimbabwean nationals and were employed by the company.
According to the company, the drivers were expected to park the trucks in the yard from Friday until Monday. However, in the early hours of Saturday, at approximately 01:00, they allegedly drove off with the vehicles and deactivated their tracking systems shortly after leaving. The tracking devices recorded the trucks' last known location at the company premises in Witbank before the signals were disrupted.
The stolen trucks include a 2022 Scania G460, white in color, with a grey Trailmax trailer, and a second truck with blue Trailmax trailers. The company has urged members of the public with any information regarding the vehicles or the suspects to come forward, emphasizing that their reward demonstrates their commitment to recovering the stolen assets.
Authorities have warned that anyone found aiding or harboring the suspects could face legal consequences. Police continue their investigation into the matter, with hopes that public cooperation and the offered reward will expedite the recovery process. The theft has raised concerns about security in the transport industry, with calls for enhanced safeguards to prevent such incidents in the future.
