Zimbabwean international Marshall Munetsi received an outpouring of admiration from Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters following his energetic debut during the team's 2-0 FA Cup Fourth Round victory over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

Munetsi, 28, joined Wolves on deadline day for a reported £16.6 million (US$20.5 million) move from France's Stade de Reims. Despite playing only 24 minutes after being introduced in the 66th minute, the midfielder left an indelible mark on fans with his dynamic display.

Speaking to Wolves media after the match, Munetsi expressed his delight at fulfilling a lifelong dream.
"I'm so delighted, you know, because it has been a dream come true for me to represent a big club like Wolves. What a way to start," he said.

The Warriors vice-captain was humbled by the warm reception he received from the travelling Wolves supporters, who cheered him on throughout his cameo appearance.

"I was just delighted that they were cheering me on, even though I didn't manage to score. They gave me that energy to keep going," he added.

Munetsi's brief time on the pitch was marked by his clever movement, crisp passing, and tireless work ethic. He came close to scoring on multiple occasions, including a 73rd-minute header from a Rodrigo Gomes cross that narrowly missed the target.

The midfielder's statistics highlighted his contribution: 82% pass accuracy (9 of 11), 18 touches, three efforts on goal, and three touches in the opposition penalty area. His ability to transition quickly from defense to attack showcased his versatility and potential as a key player for Wolves.

Fans took to social media to praise Munetsi's debut, with many describing him as a "perfect fit" for the team. The Molineux News gave him a solid 7/10 rating, commending his energy and attacking intent.

Wolves manager Vitor Pereira was pleased with Munetsi's performance and the balance he brought to the squad alongside fellow deadline-day signing Nasser Djiga.

"The squad has more balance and more solutions now. We are physically stronger, and the club did good work," Pereira said.

He also highlighted Munetsi's physicality and work rate, noting the midfielder's ability to complement players like Joao Gomes and Matheus Cunha.

"With Munetsi outrunning everyone in training, it's clear he can cover every blade of grass. He's going to be a great asset for us," Pereira added.

Munetsi, who signed a three-and-a-half-year contract, pledged to give his all for Wolves as he settles into life in the English Premier League.

"I think I'm at the right age to showcase what I've learned in football. It's just about working hard, getting to know the system, and helping the team in any way I can," he said.

As Wolves continue their campaign, fans are optimistic that Munetsi will play a crucial role in their midfield, with many eagerly anticipating his next appearance.

Wolves secured their FA Cup victory with first-half goals from Joao Gomes and Matheus Cunha, advancing to the next round with renewed confidence bolstered by their new recruit.
