Montrose High School achieves 100% pass rate at Advanced Level

Montrose High School, one of Bulawayo's esteemed single-sex institutions, continues to uphold its reputation for academic excellence, delivering remarkable results year after year. Located in the heart of Bulawayo at the corner of Dundee Drive and Van Riebeeck in Morningside, the school has remained one of the city's most sought-after educational institutions since its establishment in 1971.
In an interview, school head Sekai Chikavanga Mafuva highlighted the school's continuous development and its broad academic offerings, catering to diverse student interests.
"We offer a diverse range of subjects at both Ordinary and Advanced Level, with 18 subjects available at the Advanced Level," Mafuva said. "Apart from that, we also offer Hexco subjects and plan to introduce horticulture, computer science, catering, arts and craft, as well as garment construction."
Montrose High School's 2024 A-Level results demonstrated a significant improvement, achieving a 100 percent pass rate compared to 85.1 percent in 2023. Several subjects, including Crop Science, Economics, Art, Business Studies, Food and Technology Design, Family and Religious Studies, History, Literature in English, Ndebele, and Physical Education, recorded an impressive 100 percent pass rate.
"This is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our learners and teachers," Mafuva remarked.
Regarding Ordinary Level performance, the school head expressed enthusiasm, noting that the overall pass rate exceeded the national average, with many students achieving top grades in various subjects.
Beyond academic success, Montrose High School fosters a holistic education by offering a range of extra-curricular activities. These include health and life skills clubs, baking, and busy hands clubs, providing students with opportunities for personal and creative development.
