Veteran business executive Mr. Willard Zireva has returned as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of OK Zimbabwe, one of the country's largest retail chains. Zireva, who previously led the company from 2001 to 2017, steps back into the role as part of a major leadership shake-up aimed at stabilizing operations and driving sustainable growth.
OK Zimbabwe announced the leadership changes in a statement released on Tuesday, confirming that voluntary separation agreements had been reached with three top executives: outgoing CEO Mr. Maxen Phillip Karombo, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Mr. Phillimon Mushosho, and Supply Chain Director Mr. Knox Mupaya.
To steer the company's restructuring efforts, the board has appointed a new executive team, with Zireva at the helm. He will be supported by Mr. Alex Edgar Siyavora as CFO and Mr. Muzvidzwa Richard Chingaira as Supply Chain Director. The appointments take immediate effect, with the new leadership tasked with implementing a strategic recovery plan over the next six months while the company searches for permanent executives.
In its statement, OK Zimbabwe acknowledged the outgoing leadership for their service during a challenging period and expressed confidence in the new team's ability to stabilize and turn around the business.
The restructuring comes as OK Zimbabwe faces mounting economic pressures and shifting consumer trends in an increasingly competitive retail market. Zireva's return signals the company's intent to leverage his extensive experience in navigating past challenges and positioning the business for long-term growth.
