2 hrs ago | Views

In a daring daylight robbery, four armed robbers stormed the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) offices in Bluffhill, Harare, making off with over US$2,200 in cash and a Nissan X-Trail belonging to an employee.
The robbery unfolded when the four assailants, who were wearing face masks, targeted the office premises and confronted two Real Star security guards. They threatened the guards with an unidentified pistol before forcing them to remove their shoelaces, which were then used to bind their hands.
The robbers proceeded to ransack the office, breaking into the Registry office using a pickaxe to smash the window and burglar bars. They entered the office, stole US$2,212 from a safe, and also took the keys to the Nissan X-Trail, a vehicle belonging to one of the employees.
After the robbery, the suspects fled the scene in the stolen vehicle. Harare Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed that the vehicle was later recovered in good condition at the Kuwadzana Roundabout, where it had been abandoned.
"Police are investigating an armed robbery along Lorraine Drive in Bluffhill," said Insp Chakanza. "Both complainants were ordered to remove their shoelaces, which were used by the accused persons to tie their hands. The accused used a pick to break the window and burglar bars of the Registry office. Three of them entered the offices while one stayed behind to guard the complainants."
In addition to the stolen vehicle, which is valued at US$14,000, the robbers also made off with cash totaling US$2,212. Thankfully, the stolen vehicle was later found and returned to its rightful owner.
Insp Chakanza urged anyone with information about the suspects to come forward, as the investigation into the robbery continues.
Authorities are continuing to search for the perpetrators who are still at large.
