Muchenje takes the reins at Schweppes

Schweppes Holdings Africa Limited has announced the appointment of seasoned beverages executive, Mr Stanley Muchenje, as its new Managing Director, effective 1 May 2025.

Muchenje takes over from long-serving outgoing MD Mr Charles Msipa, who retired at the end of April after an illustrious 20-year tenure with the company, during which he led Schweppes through major growth and transformation milestones.

The incoming managing director brings with him an extensive background in the beverage industry. Until his appointment, Muchenje was the Managing Director of African Distillers (Afdis), a Zimbabwe Stock Exchange-listed company, a role he has held since 2021.

His career in beverages began in 1997 at Delta Beverages, where he steadily rose through the ranks, holding senior positions in sales, distribution, and marketing.

Mr Muchenje also boasts impressive academic and leadership credentials. He holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (Honours) degree, an IMM (SA) qualification, a Master's in Philosophy (Marketing), and has completed the Accelerated Leadership Development Programme offered by SABMiller and the Gordon Institute of Business Science.

In a statement, Schweppes Holdings expressed confidence that Muchenje's appointment would usher in a new era of innovation and growth for the company, leveraging his leadership experience and deep understanding of the regional beverage market.
