Man regrets affair with 'married' woman

A 31-year-old man from Chitungwiza, Tatenda Makosa, says an affair with a woman he believed was married has turned his life into a legal nightmare - leading to arrests, time in jail, and a string of accusations that include rape, assault, theft, and cyber bullying.

Makosa claims he was lured into the relationship by Prisca Chirimo, a 25-year-old woman, who told him she was unable to conceive with her husband and wanted his help to have a baby.

“I am a victim of an illicit affair with a married woman," Makosa told H-Metro in an emotional interview after being arrested on Wednesday for cyber bullying - a charge on which he was later released.

According to Tatenda, the affair began with promises of love and hopes for a child.

“We fell in love and she said she wanted to be pregnant because she was failing to conceive. Her husband is a hustler and in the transport business. She even stayed with me for nearly a week in Chitungwiza," he said.

He claimed Prisca later conceived, but the situation quickly turned sour.
“She started accusing me of rape. I was arrested and taken to the police, but she withdrew the charges after counseling," said Tatenda.

The drama didn't end there. He said Prisca then accused him of assault, leading to a court conviction.

“I was convicted, sentenced to one year in prison, but it was wholly suspended on condition I perform community service," he explained, adding that he began his community service on May 1.

However, just days later, Prisca reported him to the police again, this time for cyber bullying, a charge that saw him briefly detained.

“She wants me to rot in jail so her husband never finds out about our relationship. She even assaulted me and stole my money and property when she came to collect her clothes. Every time I try to report, police warn me for having an affair with a married woman," he claimed.

“I don't know what to do anymore. Prisca is after my life."

But in a dramatic twist, Prisca Chirimo denied key elements of Tatenda's version of events.

When contacted by H-Metro, she burst into tears and accused Makosa of being abusive and unable to accept rejection.

“Tatenda is refusing to move on. That's the real issue," said Prisca. “I'm not pregnant, and yes, we dated last year, but I ended it after realizing he was abusive."

She said she only claimed to be married to scare him off and insisted she had no child with him.

“He has become a nuisance in my life. I reported the cyber bullying to protect myself. He kept threatening to expose our relationship by contacting the man I had pretended was my husband. I just want him to leave me alone."

As the case unfolds, it paints a complex picture of love turned sour, blurred lines between affection and obsession, and the legal consequences of intimate relationships gone wrong.

Authorities are still handling the latest cyber bullying complaint, while Makosa maintains that he is a "victim of love", desperate to escape the web he claims was spun around him.
