Dynamos supporters call for boycott of matches

In a bold and impassioned statement, the Dynamos Football Club Supporters Association Harare Chapter, self-described as "The Mother of All Chapters," has announced a boycott of all home matches, citing deep-seated frustrations over the club's prolonged decline.

The supporters, who pride themselves on being the club's "first and last line of defence," issued a scathing critique of the club's leadership, accusing the Dynamos executive and board of failing to restore the Glamour Boys to their former glory.

"We have sacrificed so much for so long; we have lost brothers and sisters for this blue and white religion and feel a change in tone is needed," read part of the strongly worded statement.

The chapter expressed disappointment at the club's 11-year Premier Soccer League title drought, dismissing the back-to-back Chibuku Super Cup triumphs as insufficient for a club of Dynamos' stature. While acknowledging the efforts of past coaches, the supporters said continuous changes in the technical bench had failed to yield results.

"Many capable coaches have come and gone, but the script remains the same," the statement read.

The supporters accused the Dynamos board and executive of lacking a long-term vision, failing to invest in youth structures, losing key players due to poor contract management, and being outpaced by regional powerhouses like South Africa's Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs in marketing and branding.

They also took issue with the Supporters National Executive Council (NEC), saying it lacks legitimacy and was composed of handpicked individuals rather than elected representatives.

"A supporters' representative must come from us as fans. These people are not our voice," the chapter said.

Fueling further discontent was the recent court ruling affirming Board Chairman Bernard Marriot Lusengo's 51% ownership of the club. The Harare Chapter demanded clarity on the remaining 49% shareholding, asking whose hands it rests in and how it benefits the club.

"We deserve a sound environment at Dynamos FC where we are privy to the direction our club is headed."

The statement ended with a poignant reminder that Dynamos is more than just a football team — it is a "tradition and culture" — and called for urgent reform from those in power.

"We were born supporting the famous blue and white… but we can only pass on the torch to future generations if those at the helm of our club still have the interests of Dembare at heart."

Until their demands are addressed, the chapter has vowed to stay away from home matches, hoping their absence will send a clear message to the club's leadership.
