The ongoing legal dispute between Kingdom Blue Funeral Service founder and CEO, Brilliant Ncube, and his estranged wife, Mrs. Sibonguthando Ncube, continues to unfold, with Ncube asserting that he has been making spousal support payments in cash despite allegations to the contrary.

The couple made their first court appearance in April 2025, during which details of their separation were revealed. At the latest hearing before Bulawayo magistrate Mrs. Eva Matura, Ncube, a prominent businessman and funeral services mogul, stated that he has been providing spousal maintenance payments in cash through a relative. He insisted that he is only in arrears from February 2025, challenging his estranged wife's claims of prolonged default.

Ncube is currently facing charges of contempt of court for allegedly failing to comply with a legally binding maintenance order. Prosecutor Mr. Samuel Mpofu informed the court that the Bulawayo Maintenance Court had ordered Ncube, on October 26, 2023, under case number M282/23, to pay monthly spousal maintenance of US$550. However, official records indicate that Ncube defaulted on payments for six months, leading to arrears totaling US$6,550.

"It was further noted that he had failed to make any payments for six months, resulting in arrears amounting to US$6,550," Mr. Mpofu stated.

During proceedings, it also emerged that Ncube has allegedly offered his estranged wife a plot of land as an alternative settlement for his spousal support obligations.

Brilliant Ncube, who is in a polygamous marriage, has six children with two wives. He started his career as a hairdresser in Mathambo Village, Lupane, and has since built Kingdom Blue Funeral Service into one of the fastest-growing funeral service companies in Southern Africa.

Established using savings from his hairdressing business, Kingdom Blue now operates 12 branches in South Africa, 14 in Zimbabwe, and one in Botswana, marking it as a leading player in the regional funeral services sector.

Magistrate Mrs. Eva Matura is expected to deliver judgment on the matter on May 28.
