Bosso hunt for new CEO
7 hrs ago | Views

Highlanders Football Club has officially opened applications for a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) after the sudden resignation of Brian Moyo, who stepped down amid serious allegations of financial misconduct.
The Bulawayo-based giants announced on Monday that they are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced individual to fill the key executive role. The new CEO will report directly to the club's Executive Committee and will oversee the strategic and operational management of the institution.
Applicants must hold at least a Bachelor's degree, with a Master's degree or higher qualification considered a distinct advantage. The club is prioritising candidates with substantial experience in sports administration, particularly football, and a strong understanding of governance frameworks such as the FIFA Club Licensing system.
Highlanders have also expressed a preference for candidates with an institutional background, especially those who have prior affiliations with the club. The successful applicant will be expected to maintain and build strategic relationships with key stakeholders including the Premier Soccer League (PSL), the Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa), and corporate sponsors.
Interested candidates are required to submit a cover letter, certified academic certificates and transcripts, a copy of their national ID or passport, and a detailed CV. Applications can be submitted by post to P.O. Box 396, Bulawayo, hand-delivered to 50 Robert Mugabe Way, or emailed to highlandersbossofc@gmail.com or admin@highlandersfc.co.zw.
The application window opened on May 19, 2025, and will close on May 26, 2025. The club noted that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
Moyo's resignation comes amid allegations of fraudulent conduct involving a player transfer deal. He is accused of submitting a falsified invoice for US$23,000 - US$5,000 more than the agreed transfer fee of US$18,000 with Bulawayo Chiefs.
Internal investigations reportedly uncovered what sources described as a "deliberate scheme to siphon funds," implicating Moyo and Bulawayo Chiefs administrator Andrew Mandigora. It is alleged that the two conspired to split the excess amount, with Moyo receiving US$2,000 and Mandigora US$3,000.
Highlanders Football Club has not yet issued an official statement on the investigation's outcome, citing the matter's ongoing legal proceedings.
