Bulawayo Chiefs FC has confirmed the appointment of veteran coach John Nyikadzino as the club's new head coach, following the departure of Takaendesa Jongwe.

The announcement was made in a statement released by the club on Wednesday, marking a new era for the ambitious Premier Soccer League side.

Nyikadzino, one of Zimbabwe's most respected football tacticians, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of guiding clubs to top-flight promotion. His coaching portfolio includes successful tenures with Chapungu FC, whom he led to promotion in 2013 and a Chibuku Super Cup semi-final appearance in 2015. He also secured Premier League berths with Nichrut FC in 2018 and Sheasham FC in 2022.

"John Nyikadzino emerged as the standout candidate following a comprehensive selection process," read the club's statement. "His remarkable achievements and commitment to developing competitive teams made him the ideal choice to lead the club into a new chapter."

A holder of a CAF A coaching license, Nyikadzino is known for his tactical discipline and results-oriented management style. He is expected to bring much-needed structure and ambition to the Chiefs' dressing room as preparations for the upcoming season intensify.

Club CEO Thulani Javas Sibanda expressed confidence in the new appointment, saying the club is eager to tap into Nyikadzino's expertise.

Nyikadzino is expected to assume his duties immediately, with his first task being the formulation of a competitive squad that can challenge in the 2025 season.
