Woman strikes brother in law with brick over chicken

A Mount Darwin man is lucky to be alive after he was struck with a brick on the head by his sister-in-law in a chicken dispute.

Didymus Kora cheated death after he was attacked by his brother Stanley Kora, together with his wife Rachel Zhenjeni.

The matter came to light at Bindura regions magistrates courts yesterday, where the duo appeared before Magistrate Elisha Singano.

Zhenjeni was slapped with three years in jail for attempted murder. One year was suspended on condition of good behaviour.

Stanley Kora was sentenced to three months in jail for assault.

The court heard that on January 19, Dydmus went to his brother's house and enquired why he had taken his road runner chicken without his consent.

A misunderstanding arose, and Stanley started assaulting his brother with open hands.

As the fight continued, Zhinjeni picked a brick and struck her brother-in-law on the occiput, and he collapsed.

The injured Didymus was sent to the hospital for medication.
