HARARE - Two police officers and two other passengers were critically injured when a Zimbabwe Republic Police Ford (4×4) they were patrolling with was hit by a Mercedes Benz vehicle at Lewisam business centre along Harare-Mutoko highway late Saturday night.
According to eyewitnesses, the Mercedes Benz failed to give way to an oncoming ZRP patrol single-cab Ford bakkie, which was coming from Chikurubi Damview entertainment centre to enforce law and order after some nearby Mandara residents raised concern about noise pollution, which was disturbing their peace and causing sleepless nights.
In another related accident, a refrigerated truck lost control just after the Shamva turn-off and plunged into a roadside storm drain near Nyakupfuwa farm. Meanwhile, no injuries were recorded in this accident.
