Prophet rapes maid

A self-proclaimed prophet from New Mabvuku, Harare, is on the run after allegedly raping his 20-year-old housemaid while his wife was away, police have confirmed.
The suspect, identified as Rashward Zvomuya of Mushandike Road, is alleged to have entered the maid's bedroom around 9pm, switched off the lights, and began caressing her without consent. Despite her attempts to resist, Zvomuya reportedly threatened her with spiritual harm — leveraging his position as a so-called prophet to instil fear.
He then allegedly raped her once without using protection before returning to his own bedroom.
The following morning, the traumatised maid informed her mother, who immediately accompanied her to report the incident to the police. Zvomuya disappeared shortly after the report was filed.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case and urged members of the public to assist in locating the suspect.
"Police are investigating a rape case involving a self-proclaimed prophet in New Mabvuku," said Inspector Chakanza. "The complainant was escorted to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in the company of her mother for medical examination and treatment."
The case has added to growing concerns over abuse of power and sexual violence perpetrated by individuals posing as religious leaders. Police have called on anyone with information regarding Zvomuya's whereabouts to contact their nearest station.
