Police in the Midlands province are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the relatives of a male adult whose body has remained unclaimed at Kwekwe General Hospital mortuary for more than three years.
According to Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the deceased was found hanging from a tree at Gondongwe Farm in Kwekwe on March 9, 2025, at approximately 5pm. Despite efforts to identify him, no leads have surfaced, and his body remains unidentified.
"The deceased, suspected to be in his twenties, was found without any identification documents or personal particulars to assist with his identification," said Mahoko. "We are now reaching out once again to the public in the hope that someone may recognise the description or recall a missing relative."
At the time of discovery, the man was wearing a blue pair of trousers, a black T-shirt, a black cap, and black push-in shoes. He is described as being dark in complexion and appearing to be in his late twenties.
Police have urged anyone who may have a missing male relative fitting this description to come forward and contact Kwekwe Central Police Station for assistance.
The prolonged presence of the unclaimed body at the hospital mortuary has raised concerns, with authorities hoping renewed public attention may help reunite the deceased with his family and allow for a dignified burial.
Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to report to the nearest police station or call Kwekwe Central Police.
