Woman assaults granddaughter over maize meal

A 64-YEAR-OLD grandmother is in trouble after she assaulted her granddaughter with an electric cable before throwing an egg on her forehead over maize meal misunderstanding.
Beauty Sibanda was dragged to Plumtree magistrates courts by her minor granddaughter.
She appeared before magistrate Joshua Nembaware who remanded her out of custody to January 31.
The state led by Selestine Madziwa alleged sometime in December Sibanda left her maize meal and told the complainant to cook four meals to eat with her sister as she left for Bulawayo from Plumtree.
Upon her return she accused the complainant of wasting her maize meal and started assaulting the complainant with an electric cable.
After the assault, she picked an egg and threw it to her daughter's face.
Sensing more danger the accused tried to flee and her grandmother chased after her throwing bricks at her.
The complainant sought refuge at a police station there by filing a police report.
