An Open Letter from the British Australian Community Urging Suspension of Australian Aid to South Africa Over Anti-White Property Rights Violations
South Africa's President Ramaphosa signed the country's new Expropriation Act 13 into law on 23 January 2025. This new law facilitates the expropriation (or compulsory acquisition) of private property by the government for public purposes or if deemed in the public interest. In terms of the provision of the new law, this expropriation can be without compensation.
The South African government argues that expropriating property is a necessary tool to reduce land inequality. The ANC government has further argued that it needs to speed up the transfer of more land from White to Black South Africans. Many South Africans argue that this move by the ANC violates existing private property rights that were entrenched in South Africa's constitution.
President Trump has just announced that the USA will not stand for such a confiscation of land and that the US Government will cut off all future funding to South Africa pending a full investigation into the matter of land expropriation.
The British Australia Community believes the Australian government needs to act in a similar manner and suspend all Aid to South Africa pending a thorough examination of the matter.
Authorised by Harry Richardson President of the British Australian Community 3rd February 2025
