Dear President Mnangagwa,

I am writing to express my concerns regarding the recent conferment of an Honorary Doctorate in Engineering to Dr. Strive Masiyiwa by Stellenbosch University on December 10, 2024. As one of Zimbabwe's most prominent billionaires and a significant contributor to both our economy and society, it is disheartening to note that no Zimbabwean university has yet recognised his achievements with a similar honour.

As the Chancellor of all universities in Zimbabwe, your leadership and influence are vital in promoting excellence and recognising those who have made substantial contributions to our nation. With over sixty presidential advisors at your disposal, it raises one major question, why has Dr. Masiyiwa not been considered for such a recognition by our institutions?

Dr. Masiyiwa's accomplishments serve as an inspiration to many, particularly the youth of Zimbabwe. It would be fitting for our universities to acknowledge his contributions and encourage a culture of recognition for those who excel in their fields, this fosters motivation and ambition among our citizens.

I urge you to consider advocating for the recognition of one of Zimbabwe's outstanding engineer, Dr. Masiyiwa within our local academic institutions. Such an initiative would not only honour him but also set a precedent for future generations of Zimbabweans striving for excellence.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to seeing our universities take steps to honour our own distinguished leaders.

Your Most Obedient Son,

Engineer Jacob Kudzayi Mutisi
