Nevsun Premier Pool League (NPPL) club, Legends on Sunday recognized their most outstanding players at their prize giving ceremony in Waterfalls.

Hillary T.M Duru received the best player award,Diana Ndanatsei Kabasa received the most decorated players award after she scooped several national tournament in 2024 while Bright Karonga received the most disciplined player award.

Legends pool club ended the league on sixth position and the secretary general of the club Mr Davias Diwa said the prize giving day will be the most memorable one for the legends family.

"The day is a memorable one in the legends family as this will motivate players and will also be a day to shape each other for future games," he said.

The club sponsor Mr Thamsanqa Ncube bemoaned lack of recognition of the sport by the Ministry of Sport.

"Cue sport in Zimbabwe is currently the fastest growing sport and is starting to attract mild corporate sponsors. The biggest challenge we have as a fraternity is the fact that ministry of sport and recreation still does not recognise pool as a sport in the country. It is really difficult to be considered for various international tournaments which may require visa processing," lamented Ncube

"Just last year in 2024 we had 16 individuals selected to represent the nation in the Bridlington World Black Ball Championship had their hopes shattered when visas were turned down due to lack of adequate funding from the sport's governing body, ZIPA.

"The sport is growing rapidly and those that manage to align themselves at the earliest stage stands to benefit from the rewards of growth. We are blessed to be able to be one of the most competitive nations in the region. It is high time we raise the Zimbabwean flag higher and uplift cue sport. Hopefully one day in the near future our esteemed minister of sports and recreation will give us a chance and change the trajectory of pool in Zimbabwe forever!"
