LEADING clothing retailer Edgars has closed its last Express branded store in the country with the opening of a Jet outlet in Victoria Falls. The chain now has 14 Jet branches countrywide.
Speaking during the official opening of the store, along Parkway road on Friday, Jet group operations director Mr Vusimuzi Mpofu said the group started replacing the Express Stores with the Jet franchise last year.
"Today is a special day here in Victoria Falls in particular and the Edgars family in general, as we welcome you to Victoria Falls, to winding up of operations of what is our last Express store in the country. Last year we embarked on changing the shopping landscape in Zimbabwe by introducing a clearly winning brand in South Africa, the Jet brand. We have come a long way to this store as this Jet Store is our 14th in Zimbabwe," he said.
He said the Jet brand was an Edgars one which started in South Africa and was well recognised in Southern Africa.
"Jet Stores brings to you quality merchandise in fashionable styling in brands such as Network, J Classics, Enzo, Massumi and many others at affordable prices to the people of Victoria Falls," said Mr Mpofu.
Meanwhile, Sat Communications from the resort town is now a Multichoice Zimbabwe agent tasked with opening of DStv accounts and activation of services.
Previously, residents from Victoria Falls were forced to travel to Bulawayo while others went across to Zambia for such services.
The director of Sat Communications, Mr Shadreck Hukuimwe, said people in Victoria Falls no longer needed to travel to Bulawayo or anywhere for DStv services.
"This is a welcome development for the town as we prepare for the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) general assembly, such services should be within reach," he said.
