AIR Zimbabwe on Tuesday announced a schedule for domestic and regional flights as the troubled airline takes back to the skies after grounding its aircraft last December.
The national flag carrier says it has acquired two Airbus planes which will be used to service the Harare-Johannesburg route and the Harare-Bulawayo-Victoria Falls route domestically.
Acting Air Zimbabwe CEO Innocent Mavhunga said overseas flights remain suspended, but added that they would resume "soon".
Domestic flights will resume on Sunday, November 4, and Johannesburg flights on November 12 as Air Zimbabwe targets Christmas travellers.
Starting on November 12, Air Zimbabwe will fly four times weekly to Johannesburg on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The flight will depart Harare at 7AM, arriving in Johannesburg at 8.45AM. The return flight will leave Johannesburg at 8PM arriving in Harare at 9.45PM.
Domestically, Air Zimbabwe will fly four times a week between Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
The schedule released on Tuesday shows that on those days, a morning flight departs Harare at 7AM, arriving in Bulawayo at 7.45AM. It will leave for Victoria Falls at 8.15AM, arriving in the resort town at 9AM.
The flight departs Victoria Falls at 9.30AM and completes its round trip by touching down in Harare at 10.30AM.
Air Zimbabwe grounded its planes after creditors in London and Johannesburg made moves to seize its aircraft over unpaid debts.
The government has ordered the airline to trip its workforce after agreeing to adopt its US$100 million debt.
Ministers say Air Zimbabwe - which is wholly owned by the government - can only return to profitability if it finds new partners. The government is prepared to give up its majority shareholding for the right offer.
