Innscor, through its subsidiary, Bakers Inn, is targeting bread production capacity of 1 million loaves a day by 2015, group chief executive John Koumides has said.
He said this after the commissioning of Baker's Inn two new bakery lines at cost of $16 million at its Shepperton Road branch in Southern, Harare yesterday.
The state of the art plant has capacity to produce over 600 000 loaves of bread per day and pushes Bakers Inn's share of the market to 25% with further expansion expected by December.
Koumides said that Baker's Inn will install an additional two new lines at a cost of $15 million to bring total bread production capacity to 700 000 per day by December 2013.
Innscor intends to put up 8 new lines by 2015 to take Baker's Inn total capacity to 1 million loaves per day target by 2015 to make the Shepperton plant one of the largest worldwide.
Meanwhile, Innscor has blasted its competitors and accused CFI Holdings of instigating an investigation into alleged breach of competition rules by the diversified conglomerate.
Koumides this week told an Imara Zimbabwe Conference in Harare the accusations came from competitors who had an axe to grind given the success of his company.
"One of the main accusers is CFI's Victoria Foods, but we have no case to answer," he said, adding Innscor had cleared all the concerns with CTC three weeks earlier.
"One of them is a customer who failed to settle an account (with National Foods) at dollarisation. Some of this information comes from people who have an axe to grind because of our efficiencies. We are competitive and we have managed to reduce prices significantly especially for our fast food outlets. We have reduced revenue per customer but we get more customers."
