AirZim reduces fares

Air Zimbabwe is on a drive to demystify the widely held perception that airline travel is a preserve of the rich.
In an unprecedented move, the national airline slashed airfares by 300 percent as it moves to position air travel as the transport mode of choice for Zimbabweans who are sceptical about flying.
Air Zimbabwe Public Relations Executive, Ms Shingai Taruvinga said the airline has reduced prices so that it can be more accessible to general travellers.
The airline recently acquired new planes to service both domestic and regional routes as it moves to reclaim its market share.
While travelling by air has become cheaper on most continents, the cost is still prohibitive in Africa.
Experts have cited few airlines and combined with lack of direct routes as causes for high travel costs.
