Mining concern, Mwana Africa says it has completed the revamping of part of the Freda Rebecca Plant which collapsed early this year, a move which is expected to ensure normal production.
In a statement, the firm announced that the section of the damaged tank has been successfully re-commissioned into the leach circuit.
Mwana Africa Chief Executive Officer Kalaa Mpinga said the installation of the tank brings the leach tank incident to a close and expressed gratitude to the local management and the local authorities for dealing with the situation.
Mining operations at the mine were temporarily suspended during the first quarter of this year following a leach tank collapse which injured five employees.
Mwana's Freda Rebecca Gold Mine in Zimbabwe, resumed operations in 2009 and has since produced a total of over 65 000 ounces of gold during the 12 months to March 2013.
The collapse of the tanks posed a threat to the performance of Mwana Africa given the fact that Freda Rebecca is the group's cash cow contributing 98 percent of the group's $81.3 million annual revenue for 2012.
The increased production by the company is in line with the country target of surpassing the 15 tonnes of gold target by December 2013.
The country's mining industry has remained a major contributor to the growth of the economy accounting for over 50 percent of the monthly exports over the past 12 months.
