PSMAS board retires group CEO

The Premier Service Medical Aid Society (PSMAS) board has retired its Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr Cuthbert Dube, ZBC News reported.

In a statement today, the PSMAS Board Secretary, Cosmas Mukwesha confirmed the development, saying Dr Dube has reached retirement age and must be retired.

He said details on the retirement are being worked out.

Dr Dube's retirement follows shocking revelations of PSMAS' salary schedule, with Dr Dube earning a whooping US$230 000 per month.

The salary schedule also showed that the top management at PSMAS is gobbling at least US$1 million in basic monthly salaries at a time the state enterprise is reeling under a US$38 million debt.

At its sitting this Monday 27 January 2014, the PSMAS Board also resolved to relieve the current Board Chairperson, Mrs Meisie Makeletso Namasasu of her duties and appointed Vice Chairperson, Mr Newton Mhlanga as the Acting Chairperson until the appointment of a substantive Chairperson.
