ZESA Holdings' Group Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Josh Chifamba's contract expires on the 31st of January, amid concerns over the power utility's low power generating capacity.
The development comes as the company is yet to have a board of directors after the one chaired by Simba Mangwengwende expired in December last year.
Engineer Chifamba came to the helm of the organisation during the inclusive government, signing a three-year contract under the then Minister of Energy and Power Development, Mr Elton Mangoma.
According to ZBC News sources, the board, whose term had expired, claimed to have signed an extension until 2015 under unclear circumstances.
It is also claimed that Engineer Chifamba's three-year tenure has seen labour cases against the power utility increasing as general managers of its subsidiary firms were at one point suspended.
Some of the once suspended managers include those heading Zimbabwe Power Company, ZENT and Powertel.
While others managed to return their jobs, some are still on suspension under unclear circumstances.
