The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Dr Obert Mpofu says the scandal involving suspended Air Zimbabwe management will be dealt with in a manner that is fair to all parties, ZBC News reported.

This follows revelations by the media of the scandal involving the looting of US$10 million from Air Zimbabwe by its senior management and Navistar Insurance Brokers.

Dr Mpofu said he has not received any reports about the allegations in the press, adding that he cannot act on speculations but will deal with the issue when he receives the report.

"No look, I'm not a policeman; I'm just an authority and will deal with the matter in a manner that is fair to all parties if there is any such activity as reported by the media. But we haven't received that audit report perhaps it's on my desk I will deal with it when I get back to office," said Dr Mpofu.

Responding to allegations by MDC-T's Gorden Moyo that Zanu PF Ministers are responsible for the corrupt practices at parastatals because they were receiving kick backs from Chief Executive Officers, Dr Mpofu, who is also Zanu PF Secretary for Economic Affairs, denied that allegation saying it is unfair for Moyo who failed to deal with the issues to start making such baseless accusations.

"He should have dealt with it at the time when he was there but for him to take advantage of these failures and think that now that he is in the opposition he can start accusing and alleging certain activities which he failed to deal with himself is unfair," he added.

Air Zimbabwe is one of the parastatals that has been affected by alleged mismanagement , a situation that saw the national airline fail to pay its employees for one and half years, while all its aircrafts were grounded.

While it has resumed operations locally and to South Africa, it has not been able to resume flights to other regional destinations as well as London which is considered the most lucrative route for the airline.
