Chinamasa tours Fidelity Printers and Refineries

Finance and Economic Development Minister Patrick Chinamasa, his deputy Dr S Undenge and the Acting RBZ Governor DR CL Dhliwayo today 11 February toured Fidelity Printers and refineries, the largest security and commercial printing company in Zimbabwe.
Addressing media after the tour of Fidelity Printers and Refiners, Minister Chinamasa said Fidelity Printers and Refiners is an important institution as it plays a crucial role in making Zimbabwe regain her status of being one of Africa's key gold exporters.
He reiterated that Fidelity Printers and Refiners is not for sale.
Minister Chinamasa said that Fidelity Printers and Refiners, has adequate funds to competitively buy all the gold produced in Zimbabwe.
Minister Chinamasa said government has banned the exportation of unrefined gold and is in the process of ensuring decriminalization of small scale gold miners as a way of boosting the gold delivered to Fidelity Printers and Refiners.
Minister Chinamasa said the measures to bolster the capacity of FPR, is part of the long term objective of building the national gold reserves.
He said it is critical for Zimbabwe to have its own gold and diamond reserves and as well as reserves of other foreign currencies.
The Acting Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor Dr. C. L. Dhliwayo welcomed the move by Finance Minister Chinamasa, to make Fidelity Printers and Refiners the sole buyer and exporter of gold.
Dr Dhliwayo said the Reserve bank for Zimbabwe will work tirelessly in ensuring that Fidelity Printers and Refiners secures loans, needed in making the company fulfill its mandate.
The Chairman of the Fidelity Printers and Refiners Mr E. Mashiringwani described the tour of the company by Minister Chinamasa, Deputy Finance Minister Dr S. Undenge and RBZ Acting Governor Dr C.L. Dhliwayo as ushering a new era of cooperation between the company and government.
