Telecel Zimbabwe (Pvt) Limited is being sued by NICLIFT Investment for allegedly failing to pay the firm $52 000 for services provided to the mobile phone network provider four years ago.

According to summons filed at the High Court under case number HC1977-144, NICLIFT Investments claims that sometime in 2010 it provided site acquisition services amounting to $105 200.

NICLIFT's lawyer Mr Fred Machokoto of Machokoto and Partners say Telecel only paid $52 600 and has not paid the balance to this day.

"Defendant does not dispute being indebted to plaintiff in the sum claimed but is simply withholding payment of what it terms "squabbles' within the plaintiffs rank," said Mr Machokoto.

He said there was no lawful basis upon which Telecel was withholding the payment that is now due and payable to the plaintiff.

"Despite demand and several requests, defendant has failed, neglected and or deliberately refused to pay the sum claimed," Mr Machokoto said.
