Sales and operations manager Godfrey Mashingaidze congratulates Mr Sekiwa and his family, watched by Mr Mupfunya.

Telecel Zimbabwe today (Friday) handed over a brand new silver Ford Ranger to Rapheal Sekiwa, who won the Telecel grand prize in the OK Grand Challenge promotion.

Mr Sekiwa said he is a longstanding customer of Telecel, having bought his Telecel SIM card on the black market years ago, when SIM cards were being sold for more than $100 each. Now a Telecel SIM card only costs one dollar.

This year is the first time that Telecel has participated in the OK Grand Challenge promotion, which ended on June 7.

During the promotion subscribers were given a chance to win the Ford Ranger, airtime, SIM cards and money by purchasing goods worth $10 or more at any OK store using telecash or purchasing airtime worth a dollar or more.

Apart from having the chance to win the big prize of the Ford Ranger, subscribers who purchased goods or Telecel airtime in an OK store were given the chance to pick and scratch a card to reveal an instant prize.

Handing over the Ford Ranger to Mr Sekiwa, Telecel Zimbabwe sales and distribution director Donald Mupfunya said he was pleased to learn that the vehicle had been won by such a longstanding and loyal customer.

"We have given away a lot of prizes, including other cars, over the last few years in various promotions but this is the first time a customer has told us that he purchased his SIM card on the black market during the period when SIM cards were difficult to find.

"Fortunately Telecel changed all that in 2010 when it made SIM cards readily available and slashed their price in order to make it easy for everyone to use a mobile phone.

"It is good to know that the Ford Ranger has been won by such a longstanding and loyal customer," he said.
