Zupco defers salaries indefinitely

Troubled parastatal, the Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (Zupco), has indefinitely deferred the payment of April, May and June salaries for its workers, businessdigest reported.
Workers at the organisation said the decision had riled workers.
Representatives of workers were said to have been locked in meetings with management this week to discuss the issue.
Sources said this was over and above the outstanding 2010 salaries amounting to about $520 000.
This comes after management sent workers on unpaid leave on a rotational basis for two weeks, effectively meaning that they will be paid half salaries going forward.
The company had in March, made a decision to send workers on unpaid leave for three months.
