Temporary Suspension of the Bulawayo - Beitbridge Passenger Train Service

The National Railways of Zimbabwe wishes to advise its valued travelling public that the Bulawayo – Beitbridge passenger train service has been temporarily suspended for a period of approximately six weeks, starting from Sunday 27 July 2014.

This train is popular with cross border shoppers who travel to South Africa and back.  The suspension is meant to make way for the upgrading of the railway infrastructure between Mbalabala and Esigodini section of the railway line.

It is pertinent to mention that safety takes precedence in all our operations and hence the on-going railway infrastructure rehabilitation and upgrading systemwide, including the line connecting Bulawayo to Beitbridge.

Normal services will resume on a date still to be advised.

The inconvenience caused to our valued customers is sincerely regretted.

Meanwhile, on Harare – Bulawayo, Bulawayo – Victoria Falls, Harare – Mutare and Bulawayo – Chireddzi, Gweru – Masvingo, Harare – Chinhoyi and Harare – Bindura corridors the NRZ is geared to ferry holiday travellers for the Heroes and Defence Forces Holiday including school children after the schools closure.  The NRZ has added additional passenger coaches to the existing passenger trains traversing throughout the country, to cater for the anticipated increased volumes.
