AFDB Presidential candidates to face questions, share ideas on CGD Panel

On April 16, seven of the eight candidates vying for the presidency of the African Development Bank (AfDB) will participate in a unique panel at the Center for Global Development in Washington, D.C, authorities have revealed.
In a notice to participating states it was revealed that the event will be broadcast live online in English and French.
"Candidates will answer questions about a range of important issues related to the Bank's future, the challenges it faces, and how their leadership would benefit this important institution," reads the notice.
"Questions will be fielded in-person from our moderator and via video from participants across Africa. This is the first and only time these candidates will be in the same room to answer questions ahead of the May 28, 2015 election."
The minister of agriculture and rural development in Nigeria, Akinwumi Adesina, Jaloul Ayed, president of MED Confederation, Tunisia, Kordje Bedoumra minister of finance and budget in Chad, Christina Duarte minister of finance and planning in Cape Verde, Samura M. W. Kamara, minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation in Sierra Leone, Thomas Z. Sakala, former vice president of country and regional programmes, AfDB in Zimbabwe, Birama Boubacar Sidibe, vice president of the Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, Mali, Rajesh Mirchandani, moderator, senior director of communications and policy outreach, Center for Global Development will take part in the event.
