Zimbabwe now has dedicated air ambulance available for medical emergencies anywhere within southern, central and east Africa.
The Cimas Emergency Air Rescue Service air ambulance is a twin engine Beechcraft King Air 200 aircraft fitted with modern intensive care equipment.
There is an experienced doctor and nurse aboard the air ambulance who look after the patient throughout the flight. They accompany the patient all the way to the hospital. The air ambulance only requires an 800 metre runway to land and take off.
It can land on tarmac, gravel or grass, making it ideal for carrying out medical air rescue operations even in remote areas, such as game parks and out-of-the-way tourist resorts.
