Telecommunications firm TelOne is mulling the introduction of pre-paid billing system as a way recovering revenue owed by subscribers amounting to $160 million.
In an interview in the capital, TelOne managing director Chipo Mutasa said her organisation is mulling the introduction of pre-paid billing system as a way of recovering the money owed.
"The pre-paid billing system is ideal for the organisation to recover some of the debts amounting to 160 million dollars from corporate and individuals.
"We hope to introduce the system when everything has been put in place, but we obviously know that there will be public outcry," she said.
TelOne has also come up with cost cutting measures as a way of improving revenue inflows with all employees taking a 15 percent salary reduction for the next six months.
Said Mutasa, "Cost cutting measures have been adopted and we believe this will play a critical role in increasing company revenue.
"We will also review the decision after six months whether to continue or to revert to normal salaries."
In the first half of the year, TelOne raked in 72 million dollars in revenue and has set a target of 80 million dollars in the second half of the year.
