Food Company fined for tax evasion

A BULAWAYO food company, Allied Foods Private Limited represented by its employee Munyaradzi Muraicho has been ordered to pay a fine $150 for tax evasion for the past one year.
The company was also ordered to clear all the tax arrears it owes the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) the amount of money which was not started on the court papers.
Maraicho representing the company pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Charity Maphosa on Thursday. The magistrate convicted before fining the company.
The court heard that Allied Foods situated at Suite 38 Fairbridge Way Malindela in Bulawayo failed to submit income tax returns for the year ended December 31 2012 and 2013 as required by the authorities.
Zimra opened docket with the police and investigations led to the company being arraigned before the court.
