NRZ on a recruitment drive

THE financially-troubled National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) has gone on a recruitment drive to fill four top posts despite sitting on a salary backlog stretching over a year.
The parastatal, currently operating without a substantive general manager, wants to engage a finance manager, human resources manager, information technology manager and chief planning manager (strategic planning branch).
In a notice, the parastatal said the chief planning manager's duties would include carrying out financial and economic evaluating of capital investment proposals and ensuring that these were consistent with NRZ'S strategic plans.
The railway firm is also head hunting for a general manager in the Diaspora after all the 40 candidates who had initially applied for the post last year reportedly failed to make the grade.
The NRZ general manager's position has been vacant since August 2013 following the death of Mike Karakadzai in a car accident.
Lewis Mukwada is the acting general manager.
The state enterprise has already filled the positions of finance director and that of director of operations.
