Huge Russian presence at ZITF

THE Russian business delegation to exhibit at this year's 57th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) has set sights on using the exhibition as a platform to explore new investment opportunities as well as to further strengthen the economic and trade relations with Zimbabwe.
Russia, which will be participating at the ZITF for the first time would occupy 200 square metres of exhibition space where it would present the country's achievements in areas such as heavy industry, agricultural and infrastructural development, the energy sector, road and rail transport, communications and optimisation of production processes.
Togolese President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé will officially open this year's fair. It will be President Gnassingbé's second visit to Zimbabwe in seven months following his state visit in September last year.
This year's show to be held from 26 to 30 April will be held under the theme: "Innovate-Integrate-Industrialise".
"As part of the ZITF-2016, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, with curation by the Tatarstan Export Corporation, will present an extensive exhibition of Russian's industrial achievements across a variety of spheres. The exposition is aimed at expansion of Russian-Zimbabwean economic and trade relations and the implementation of promising new investment projects," said the visiting Russian's spokesperson Ms Natalia Dedova.
The Russian business delegation would be led by its Minister of Trade and Industry of the Russian Federation, Mr Denis Maturov.Ms Dedova also said the main purpose of the business mission was to increase Russian presence on African markets and to explore the huge potential for social and economic co-operation in an extensive range of areas including agriculture, mining, oil and gas, tourism, economic infrastructure, manufacturing, fisheries, banking, insurance, education and healthcare.
"The Russian delegation will also take part in the annual ZITF International Business Conference. The main topics of discussion will be the strengthening of bilateral co-operation between Russia and (Southern African Development Community) Sadc states in the fields of manufacturing, commerce and economics; defining areas for potential investments and economic collaboration; and identifying opportunities for localisation of industrial goods and automotive production in Africa," she said.
Russian exhibitors would include Russian Helicopters PJSC, ROSTSELMASH (agricultural equipment), KAMAZ (heavy duty truck manufacturer), Elevatorprodmashstroi (flour milling and grain storage equipment), Bourevestnik, Inc. (research, development and manufacturing of X-ray equipment for industrial and scientific purposes), Power Machines (power plant engineering), online business-to-business trading platform B2B-Export.COM and others.
