Government has availed US$4 million capital injection for the resuscitation of asbestos mining giant, Shabanie Mine. ZBC News reported.
The Minister of Mines and Mining Development, who is also the Zanu PF National Secretary for Economic Affairs, Obert Mpofu revealed this while making his presentation on mining policy at the just ended Zanu-PF Midlands Provincial Conference in Gweru.
He said the US$4 milion injection has already been approved and the ministry will soon appoint a board of directors that will oversee the revival of the company which was once the world's sixth largest asbestos producer.
The asbestos mine suspended production two and half years ago forcing its employees to resort to illegal gold mining in the area.
