Chinese firm to set up diamond cutting factory in Zimbabwe

Chinese diamond processing firm, Harvest Way Enterprises Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to setting up a diamond cutting and polishing factory in Zimbabwe to promote the country's value addition agenda.
Harvest Way Enterprise Limited, whose parent firm is based in Hong Kong and has interests in jewellery manufacturing and diamond polishing factories says it is satisfied with ongoing engagements with the government for the establishment of a diamond factory in Zimbabwe.
In a speech during the recent familiarisation visit by the Zimbabwean delegation to the Zheng Jing Yi vocational school in China, Harvest Way Enterprises Limited official, Mr Mannix Shek said apart from facilitating the training of Zimbabwean students the company is confident of finalising the deal towards setting up a diamond factory in Zimbabwe.
Head of the Zimbabwean delegation, Mines and Mining Development Permanent Secretary, Professor Francis Gudyanga said the government has prioritised investments in processing of the country's minerals.
Zimbabwean Ambassador to China, Paul Chikawa reminded the Chinese market that Zimbabwe is exploring ways of transforming itself into a producer of value-added goods.
With a thriving diamond industry, worth billions of dollars as well as a vibrant middle class, the Asian economic powerhouse, China, remains a key trading partner for Zimbabwe in terms of skills transfer and huge market for polished diamonds and jewellery.
