The National Assembly has adjourned until the 24th of January after the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Amendment Bill sailed through.

This happened after parliament had to be recalled when a quorum could not be reached on Wednesday.

Before business commenced the presiding Speaker Mabel Chinomona informed the house of the death of Honourable Joshua Moyo, who is the member of parliament for Mwenezi East constituency who died on Thursday, the 22nd December.

A minute of silence was observed.

After failing to get a quorum this Wednesday, parliament had to be recalled back this Friday morning.

It took less than 10 minutes for all procedures relating to the reading of the bill.

The bill is meant to enable the introduction of bond notes.

Thereafter, Finance and Economic Development Minister Patrick Chinamasa moved that the house adjourn and then he wished the members a Merry Christmas.

The house accordingly adjourned until Tuesday 24th January, 2017.
