Zimbabwe inflation closes the year at 4.9 percent

December CPI shot up to 4.9%, gaining 0.7 percentage points on the November 2011 rate of 4.2%, according to data from the Zimbabwe National Statistical Agency.
The year-on-year food and non-alcoholic beverages inflation prone to transitory shocks stood at 5.81% whilst non-food inflation stood at 4.5%.
The month-on-month inflation rate in December 2011 was 0.2% shedding 0.3 percentage points on the November 2011 rate of 0.5%.
The month-on-month food and non-alcoholic beverages inflation stood at 0.33% in December 2011 shedding 1.15 percentage points on the November 2011 rate of 1.48%.
Month-on-month non-food inflation stood at 0.15% gaining 0.06 percentage points on the November 2011 rate of 0.09%.
