The government, in conjunction with Euromoney Conferences, will early next month host yet another forum aimed at luring investment into the country. Dubbed the Zimbabwe Investment Conference, the event to be held on March 8 and 9, will run under the theme "The Emerging African Investment Destination".
According to Euromoney, the forum will "bring together policymakers, businessmen, financiers and key overseas players in a high-level meeting that will highlight Zimbabwe as a destination for fruitful foreign direct investment."
FDI has remained elusive in spite of the economy having shown recovery signs since the establishment of the inclusive Government two years ago.
"For the past 24 months, Zimbabwe has made significant progress towards restoring economic stability and growth.
"Rich in mineral and fertile land, the country's aim is to become the leading sub-Saharan investment destination," read the Euromoney Conferences' website.
High-profile speakers at the event will include Dr Donald Kaberuka, president of the African Development Bank, Jean-Louis Ekra, president of the African Export-Import Bank, Michael Preiss, who is the founder and chief investment strategist, African Asset Management.
Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, Finance Minister Tendai Biti, Economic Planning and Investment Promotion Minister Tapiwa Mashakada,
Transport, Communications and Infrastructural Development Minister Nicholas Goche and Industry and Commerce Minister Welshman Ncube will represent the Government at the high-profile event.
Euromoney is a leading organiser of conferences for cross-border investment and capital markets for portfolio and direct investors, financial intermediaries, corporations, governments, banks and financial institutions.
