Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has called for a parliamentary probe on indigenisation after disturbing reports of alleged misdemeanours and corruption in handling empowerment transactions.
In a statement issued by his party the MDC-T, Tsvangirai said there was a possibility that only a few individuals were benefiting from the programme.
He added there were fears that certain arms of government were kept in the dark when the policy was being implemented.
Tsvangirai said only a proper investigation into the truth would sort out the mess. He wants the probe to be done through parliament.
In the past week there have been public spats between government departments over the indigenisation programme, with some questioning the methods used especially after it was disclosed that Harare company Brainworks made US$45m off the Zimplats deal.
