A packed house attended today's (Monday, June 3) Zimbabwe investor conference staged by the Imara financial services group, with both local and international attendance exceeding projections.
Nearly 140 delegates attended the presentations at a leading Harare hotel, a record. Among them were representatives of 60 international institutions. A total attendance of 120 was originally projected.
Investment professionals from South Africa, the USA, UK, Europe and Egypt flocked to Imara's fifth annual investor conference, organised this year by South Africa-based Imara Africa Securities and Imara Zimbabwe.
One surprise contingent among the attendees was a delegation from the DRC.
Tino Kambasha, Executive Director at Imara Zimbabwe, noted: "Questions from representatives of foreign institutions indicated in-depth understanding of the Zimbabwe market, the policy environment and the potential for strong growth in several sectors, including mining, agriculture, banking, retail and services.
"Visitors drilled down into levels of detail that suggest they are not only interested in general terms in Zimbabwe's growth potential, they are here to do business."
The conference ends tomorrow (June 4).
