Zimbabwe targets 50 tonnes of gold

Minister of Finance Patrick Chinamasa told junior parliamentarians that the government was implementing measures to increase gold production in the country.

Chinamasa noted that government had recently availed a $50million gold facility aimed at equipping small scale miners with machinery.

This is part of the initiative to increase gold production to around 30 tonnes per year by 2020 and revenues of about $1.5 billion at current prices.
