Manufacturing capacity to hit 50% mark in 2021

Zimbabwe's industrial capacity utilisation is projected to reach 50% in 2021, Minister of Industry permanent secretary Abigal Shoniwa has said.

The manufacturing industry is currently operating at 34% of installed capacity.

"The manufacturing sector's contribution is expected to increase to at least 18% in 2021, capacity utilisation is expected to increase to at least 50% and annual growth rate in the manufacturing sector is expected to grow at least 1.5% during the lifespan of this policy," she said.

She was referring to the Industrial Development Policy (2017-2021.

The policy is still under consultation phase.
